Through Tithing And Obedience: Barrenness Gave Way To Breakthrough
“Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts…” – Malachi 3:10
There are times when the answer to a long-standing battle is not where we expect it to be. But when we listen to God, obey His word, and remain faithful, He can turn years of tears into a beautiful testimony. What looks like a family pattern can be broken, and what seems impossible can become a reality through God’s intervention.
Chosen praise the Lord!
My name is Sis. Ginika Nwachukwu. My husband is Bro. Japhet Nwachukwu, and our children are John Nwachukwu, Samuel Nwachukwu, Victor Nwachukwu, Daniel Nwachukwu, Chikamso Nwachukwu, and Chinazaeperem Nwachukwu.
I joined The Lord’s Chosen in 2011, and I want to thank Almighty God for making my family and I Chosen. I also want to thank Him for granting me safe delivery of my last child and for all He has done for my family.
When I was still single, I prayed and asked God to give me a husband who would bring me closer to Him and who would also be a pastor. In 2010, my husband approached me, and we started our relationship.
However, two weeks before our traditional marriage, my mother called and advised us to cancel the marriage. She said that people from my husband’s family were known for barrenness and poverty. Those words could have filled me with fear, but I held on to God and went ahead with the marriage.
After the marriage, I began experiencing difficulties with childbirth. I went from one hospital to another looking for a solution, and at one point, I was told that I had staphylococcus.
One night, I had a dream in which I met my Daddy G.O. I told him that I needed a child. He told me that my problem was not staphylococcus but anger. He instructed me to stop being angry and said that I would give birth to as many children as I wanted.
I took the instruction seriously and trusted God. Truly, God proved Himself faithful.
This year, my marriage clocked 15 years, and the same family that people had spoken of as a family of barrenness and poverty has now been blessed by God with six children.
I give God all the glory!
But God did not stop there. He also dealt with the issue of tithing in my family.
When I married my husband, he was not paying his tithe. The only amount he used to give was ₦1,500, and he would tell me that his giving was between him and God. I was always crying and praying for mercy on his behalf because I wanted our family to honour God and remain under His direction.
One day, I took my megaphone because I was preparing to go for evangelism. As I opened the door, I felt strongly led to go back inside and preach to my husband.
When I got close to him, he asked me if I had forgotten something. I told him, “No. The Holy Spirit asked me to preach to you.”
I began talking to him about tithing, obedience to God’s word, and honouring God with what He had given us. I told him that I wanted our family to obey God and that we should not knowingly disregard His word.
By God’s grace, my husband listened. He started paying his tithe faithfully, and from that time, we began to experience remarkable changes.
Today, my husband himself can testify that paying his tithe is good. He even says that he feels sorry for those who do not pay their tithe. I thank God for changing his heart and helping him understand the importance of honouring God.
As my husband began to prosper, another battle arose. His sisters began going around the village saying that he was involved in money rituals because he was doing well while others in the family were struggling.
One of his sisters even came to Lagos and cursed me. She said that because my husband was her brother, he would fall and have problems in his business, and that eventually, I would be sent back to the village to suffer.
The whole family turned against me, but I refused to give up. I committed everything into God’s hands and rejected every negative word spoken against my family. God stood by us, protected my husband, and continued to bless the work of his hands.
Last year, I was the one who testified about how I took Sniper with the intention of ending my life. I had reached a very difficult point, but God stepped in and rescued me. The enemy wanted to end my story, but God gave me another chapter.
Today, I am alive and standing to testify about the goodness of God.
I also cannot forget what God did concerning my speech. I was a chronic stammerer from birth until 2016, but God delivered me completely. Today, I can go for evangelism and preach freely. The mouth that was once hindered by stammering is now being used to preach the gospel.
When I look at my life today, I can only say that God has been faithful. He gave me the husband I prayed for, preserved my marriage, blessed us with six children, delivered me from suicidal thoughts, gave me freedom in my speech, helped my husband embrace tithing, and has continued to protect and bless my family despite opposition.
What people said would happen did not happen because God stood with us. What looked like a family history of barrenness and poverty was overturned by God’s power. Through obedience and faithfulness, we have seen God’s goodness in our family.
I give all the glory, honour and adoration to Almighty God for everything He has done for me, my husband and our children.
I encourage anyone passing through a difficult situation not to give up on God. Trust Him, obey His word, honour Him with your life, and remain faithful. The same God who turned my barrenness into fruitfulness and my struggles into breakthroughs is still alive and able to change your story.
Come and worship with us at The Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Ministry close to you and your family. Come with faith and an open heart, because God is still doing great things, and your own testimony can be the next.
Chosen praise the Lord!
