I Lived A Careless And Reckless Life Of Drinking, Smoking, And Masturbation; The Weight Of My Sins Drove Me To Attempt Suicide

Titus 2:11 – For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men

The God who sets captives free and grants salvation to all has intervened powerfully in the life of our brother. Read his remarkable testimony below.

My name is Brother Simon Waziri, and I want to give glory to God for the restoration of my salvation. I first attended The Lord’s Chosen in 2009, but I truly gave my life to Christ in July 2024.

For most of my life, I lived carelessly; a reckless life filled with drinking, smoking, masturbation, womanizing, and many other sins. I indulged in these things for nearly 10 years. Masturbation, in particular, was a burden that haunted me since my younger years. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t stop. The more I tried to quit, the more I found myself falling deeper into these habits.

My life was filled with sin and It caused pain to my family. Everyone had given up on me except my mother, they thought I would never change. My mother never stopped praying for me, day in and day out. I believe, her prayers, by the grace of God, played a major role in bringing me to where I am today.

At a certain point in my life, the weight of my sins became unbearable. I had no peace and could barely sleep at night. My restlessness grew to the point that I decided I couldn’t continue living like that anymore. Then I attempted to take my own life by drinking Sniper (a poisonous insecticide). At that moment, I thought ending my life was the only escape But God had other plans for me.

My father was present when I drank the poison. A neighbor quickly gave me red oil to drink, and I started vomiting. I was rushed to a nearby hospital, but the doctor wasn’t available and at that point, I was losing consciousness. When the doctor finally arrived, he asked a few questions, attended to me, and, by the grace of God, I survived. After I got discharged, I found myself committing the same sin I was used to but when I found Christ everything stopped. I am standing here today as a living testimony of God’s mercy and grace.

I want to thank God for saving my life, restoring my salvation, and delivering me from a life of sin and death. I don’t think I’ve heard of anyone who drank sniper and survived, but by the mercy of God, I was spared. He gave me a second chance. I now have peace in my heart. I am no longer bound by my past sins and reckless ways.
