From Selling Akara In Poverty To A Life I Never Imagined
When the LORD turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream. Psalm 126:1 (KJV)
Have you ever worked so hard to survive, yet wondered when your story would change? Have you struggled for years, hoping that one day you would finally experience a breakthrough?
Sometimes, life’s challenges can make the future look uncertain. But what happens when God steps into a situation that has remained difficult for years?
My testimony is a reminder that no situation is beyond God’s power.
Read my testimony below.
CHOSEN PRAISE THE LORD!
My name is Sister Regina Wilfred Okoi. I joined The Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Ministry in 2018, and I worship at the New Autonomous Branch in Akwa Ibom State.
FIRST TESTIMONY: GOD CHANGED MY FINANCIAL SITUATION
Before I became committed to attending church services, I sold akara every day of the week, including Sundays. Despite working hard, I struggled financially.
After buying ingredients on credit and paying back my debts, I sometimes had only ₦1,000 or ₦2,000 left to take care of myself and my son. Life was very difficult.
For 11 years, I also lived in a leaking room that flooded whenever it rained. Despite these challenges, I continued working hard, hoping for a better life for myself and my son.
During the General Overseer’s last visit to Akwa Ibom, I attended the programme on Saturday after selling my akara. A message I heard touched my heart, and I decided to stop selling on Sundays so I could attend church services consistently.
The following day, while the General Overseer was praying, I lifted the ₦1,000 I had with me and prayed earnestly. I asked God to break the cycle of poverty in my family. I also promised that if He answered my prayer, I would testify and remain committed to attending services instead of selling on Sundays.
To the glory of God, that same month, my business began to improve remarkably. My daily profits increased to between ₦15,000 and ₦20,000. I could now buy half a bag or even a full bag of beans for my akara business.
I was amazed at this change because it was very different from what I had experienced before. I give God all the glory for His goodness to me.
SECOND TESTIMONY: GOD HELPED ME ROOF MY HOUSE
I also had an unfinished house, and I prayed that God would help me roof it before my rent expired. I promised that if He answered my prayer, I would provide a keyboard for my branch.
Within less than four months, God opened doors for my son, and he helped get the house roofed. To the glory of God, we later furnished our home.
God also blessed our family with two cars—a Lexus and a Mercedes-Benz. When I consider how difficult life was for me before, I cannot explain my gratitude without giving all the glory to God.
THIRD TESTIMONY: FROM BEING PITIED TO A TESTIMONY OF JOY
In the past, people used to pity me and say, “Madam, sorry.” Today, they see me driving a Lexus. When I remember where I started and how far God has brought me, my heart is full of thanksgiving.
Truly, the God of Chosen is so great!
I want to encourage everyone, especially new members, to remain committed to God and continue attending services. As our General Overseer says, “Continuation brings freedom.” Please do not give up on God. Remain steadfast in your faith and continue to serve Him.
I also pray that God will continue to strengthen our General Overseer and increase His anointing upon his life.
Beloved, no matter what you are going through today, do not lose hope. Your present circumstances do not have to determine your future. Continue to trust God and remain faithful.
I invite you and your family to worship with us at The Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Ministry branch closest to you. Come and experience the joy of worshipping God with His people.
To God alone be all the glory!
