From Mistaken Transfer to Divine Justice
“The LORD is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusted, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.” – Psalm 28:7 (KJV)
When the God of justice rises, no human power or connection can stand against His will. He intervenes in the most challenging circumstances, turning injustice into triumph and ensuring His children receive their due. Truly, what God cannot do does not exist, for He alone can humble the proud and uplift the righteous, proving His unlimited power.
My dear brethren, my name is Sister Ugochi Ugowanem, and I am truly blessed to be a member of The Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Ministry since 2013, along with my family. Today, I stand to give all glory to the God of Chosen for a wonderful thing He has done in my life.
My testimony begins with a challenging incident. As I run a POS (Point of Sale) business, I often handle money transfers. One day, I mistakenly transferred ₦100,000 to the wrong account. Initially, I didn’t realise my error until the person I intended to send the money to called, saying they hadn’t received it. When I checked, I saw my mistake. In a moment of panic, I deleted the transaction from my phone, but quickly found the details in my transaction history, noting it was a Sterling Bank account.
I rushed to Sterling Bank, where I was directed to the manager. While she was sympathetic, she explained that bank policy prevented her from disclosing customer details. However, she kindly offered to help by having one of her staff call the recipient. I overheard their conversation, and to my dismay, the man on the other end declared that the ₦100,000 I had mistakenly sent was “Father Christmas” money, implying he would not return it. I felt deeply hurt and insulted, telling him, “We will meet again,” before leaving the bank.
Determined to recover my money and address the insult, I went straight to Area C Police Station and filed a report. This marked the beginning of a three-month ordeal. The police advised me that pursuing the case legally would be costly and time-consuming, suggesting I get a lawyer. However, I was resolute. I told them I would pursue the case not just for the money, but because he had insulted a “Chosen” daughter of God.
My journey then led me to the Yaba Customary Court. There, God used an elderly barrister to guide me. He explained that pursuing the case in that court would indeed be lengthy and expensive. He then shared a piece of advice, which he said people usually pay for, but he felt led to give me freely: I should take the case to Panti, as it was a criminal matter, and they had criminal lawyers who could handle it more efficiently and at a lower cost.
Following his advice, I returned to Area C and informed them of the barrister’s recommendation. The case was then transferred to Panti, and I was assigned a lawyer. To God’s glory, the court ruled in my favour!
After the court’s decision, Sterling Bank was ordered to release all the man’s details to me so I could pursue him further. With God’s grace, they complied. When I finally traced and met the man, I was shocked to discover he was very wealthy. Even the police officers who accompanied me were visibly intimidated by his influence. He tried to use his connections, boasting that such people ruled the world, but God intervened and his connections failed him.
His connections advised him that he had no choice but to settle with me. When he finally asked me to “name my price,” I became furious. I told him I wasn’t interested in naming a price; what I wanted was for him to be handcuffed, taken to Area C, and jailed. I reiterated that I would jail him and wanted him to understand that human power has limits, but the God of Chosen is unlimited.
He eventually agreed to follow us. However, he suggested his driver take us, but I insisted he come with us directly. The police agreed and made him comply. When we arrived at the police station, he tried to call someone he trusted deeply in business. To everyone’s astonishment, that person he called turned out to be my husband, who was also there with me at the police station!
At that moment, the man broke down in tears. He asked my husband who I was to him, and my husband proudly declared, “She is my wife.” The man admitted his wrongdoing and even recalled a time when he had mistakenly paid money into our account, and we had promptly called him to refund it. My husband then called me aside and pleaded with me to drop the case.
Returning to the police station, I informed the DSP that I was dropping the case. I told them that God uses the foolish things of the world to confound the wise, and that they would not understand this. I also told the man that wickedness is not good, and that money and connections have limits, but God has no limit. He paid the cost of all I had spent, and I even pleaded on his behalf for the money due to the police to be reduced. Although he had initially refused to return ₦100,000, he later ended up paying millions as a consequence of the legal process.
I return all glory to the God of Chosen for this incredible testimony. I pray for our Daddy in the Lord, that God will continue to protect him and all Chosen members worldwide, ensuring we all make heaven at last.
Chosen, praise the Lord!
